The Fiery Furnace is a hiking trail for advanced hikers located in Arches National Park. My husband and I had our two elementary-aged daughters with us so we used caution when we got lost and found our way back out the entrance. If it were just the two of us, we probably would have continued on and figured it out even though it was 103 degrees outside in August at the time.
This hike is challenging because it has a maze-like terrain. There were supposed to be arrows to help you guide your way, but we only saw three arrows and that was it. After spending two hours trying to find our way and realized we were going in the completely wrong direction we decided to call it quits since our daughters were started to get too hot out in the heat.
I photographed the photo below at one part of the hike that shows the challenging terrain. We were climbing up and over tons of rocks that looked like this. The hike was very fun and I think we would have lasted longer had it not have been so hot.
