Below is a picture of an American Bison and a calf standing behind it at Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. In August of 2021, my family and I took a two-week road trip to 9 national parks. Yellowstone was the 2nd to the last park we visited on our trip. Of all the wild animals we saw, we saw the most bison in the park. For this particular image, I shot it while we were driving along the road near Hayden Valley. There was a bunch of bison on the road in front of us and a ranger truck came along and steered them off of the main road onto this nearby hill. I had by Sigma 150-600mm zoom lens ready to go and snapped this photo as we were driving by.

This bison photo was taken with these camera settings:

  • Camera Body: EOS 6D Mark II
  • Shutter Speed: 1/1600 seconds
  • Lens Aperature: f/6.3
  • Focal Length: 150 mm
  • ISO: 1000
