Photo of the Grand Prismatic Spring from the overlook at Yellowstone National Park

I photographed this photo of the Grand Prismatic Spring at Yellowstone National Park in August of 2021 when my family and I took a two-week road trip to 9 national parks. We had to hike about 0.6 miles to get to the lookout to see the Grand Prismatic Spring from above. There is another hike you can take at the level of the spring itself, but in my opinion, it’s a more spectacular view from above. You can see all of the colors much better overlooking it from above.

This photo was taken in the afternoon when quite a few people were taking the hike around the spring.

The overlook trail hike is at the Fairy Falls parking lot which is south of the Midway Geyser Basin where the Grand Prismatic Spring is at.

There are always a ton of people walking the trails of the Geyser so it is hard to get a picture without people in it.
